Merry Christmas

Only Another Four To Go...

Image
I have reached the end of my first roll of 10m long paper, these pictures show me working on the last image to go on, which is all good. It means I can get back after Christmas and start a new role.

Another Image from 'The Wall'..

Image
This happened last week, I thought it was good that I wasn't the only one out looking at the sights of Wakefield at dusk.

'The Frozen Claw'

Image
I am fast approaching the end of my first 10m role of paper, here's an excerpt from a recent bit. As Christmas is fast approaching I want to finish this role and get a new one under way for the New Year. The cold days have hampered the joy of drawing outside a bit but I have plenty of reference stuff in my sketch book to keep me busy.
I think that my sketch book never looks how other peoples sketch books look, you know all in a 'style' with lots of thought, I love the way that working from my book is effecting my finished drawings .

Santa.... Sunglasses Please

Image
It was so bright this morning by the Waterfront that I had trouble seeing clearly, the sun bleached out my retinas as I made this sketch.

Watch Your Letterbox...

Image
Spent the day preparing fot the Westgate Sudios launch and open evening tomorrow night 7 - 9pm, be there or.... well just try to be there alright. When I wasn't 'preparing' I was printing off my Christmas card, so friends, keep an eye on your letterboxes, they are on their way, kind of, after I've got stamps and envelopes.

Mini Sketchbook

Image
This is a page from a mini diary/sketchbook I've been keeping and features a man impervious to the harsh winter cold we had on Saturday. How I wish I could be like that instead of the frozen rake that I am in winter.

'Old Faithful'

Image
I have had this Rotring pen for 22 years and it's still a good pen to write and draw with. The graphics have long gone off the side, I think it's an Isograph with refillable cartridge. My first employers gave me a set of drawing pens with compasses way back in the eighties when I was doing stuff... with graphics.

Bull Ring Sunset

Image
These spreads were done sitting in the Bull Ring late afternoon with the sun setting to my left. I was a bit exposed and wary of two people to my right who seemed to be up to something, they were taking mobile phone pictures of the sunset, which was the most 'Hi-Def LCD monitor' blue and orange saturation you could ask for.

I started to plan out a comic page then realised I was working in poor light, poor for drawing in . Wakefield by night is great this time of year with the shops and decorative lights in the trees by the Cathedral, very 'York' like I would say.

Wild and Windy and Rain and Hail and Sun

Image
I started this drawing just as the clouds gathered yet again, and another bout of 'strange weather' moved in. It rained enough to make the ink a bit wetter and I sort of worked with that adding a bit more back at the studio.
